Purpose: Cyber Patriot’s National Youth Cyber Defense Competition challenges teams of high school and middle school students to find and fix cybersecurity vulnerabilities in virtual operating systems. Using a proprietary competition system, teams are scored on how secure they make the system. Top teams advance through the online round of competition, and the best of the best advance to the in-person National Finals Competition.

Purpose: Mathematics Club is a competitive math club that focuses on International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) and American Mathematics Competition (AMC). ISEF is an international science & engineering fair competition and Math Club will focus on the categories of algebra, analysis, combinatorics, graph theory, game theory, geometry, topology, number theory, probability, and statistics. AMC 8 and AMC 10 is a national multiple-choice exam competition to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. AMC provides an opportunity for students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers.

Purpose: One of the best ways to get community service hours is to join Key Club. Key Club work in partnership with our local Kiwanis clubs to help high school students make a positive impact in their schools and communities. High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their school and communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. Purpose: Service Leadership Society (SLS) is a club for students to explore meaningful public policy topics, conduct research, form opinions, and develop a “bill” to address the selected public policy issue. Throughout the bill design process, students will learn the intricacies of Texas’ legislative process including how a bill becomes law. During the spring semester, SLS clubs gather for a state conference to present bill drafts to their peers and have the opportunity to debate and vote on all bills. Using the Capitol setting as a “living classroom,” the student led, student driven program promotes awareness to the political process, creates a more politically astute student body, and develops constructive solutions to issues that impact local communities while engaging stakeholders in government. Throughout the year, participants meet weekly to sharpen their research skills, form arguments for and against a solution, and practice public speaking skills. SLS clubs also host elected officials and their staff to learn more about careers in public service and the legislative process.

Purpose: The HSI - Katy Red Cross Club aims to train students in community service and other essential skills needed to be upstanding and productive citizens. The club will be centered around volunteering, community service, and disaster relief. All members will be registered Red Cross volunteers and will be required to participate in Red Cross held events/volunteering opportunities. The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Purpose: Robotics Club is a team-oriented competition club that focus on FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), NASA Space Apps Challenge, and SeaPerch. FTC teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in an alliance format challenge. FTC teams must also raise funds, design, and market their team brand and do community outreach. The NASA Space Apps Challenge is an international hackathon for teams to use open data from NASA and its Space Agency Partners to create solutions to challenges we face on Earth and space. SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that has teams build an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV).

The purpose of our MENA club is to allow students to interact with one another and learn about different Middle Eastern heritages and hardships. Purpose: Outreach Club aims to advocate the importance of mental health and eliminate stigma surrounding it through campaigns, socials, and “serotonin boosters.” We’ll be responsible for promoting important topics such as Mental Health Awareness month and Suicide Prevention month. The club will also act as a safe space for students and a stress reliever for members. Additionally, the club will have fun activities and volunteering opportunities to connect with our community such as animal shelters, Habitat for Humanity, retirement homes, care packages, and more.

Purpose: Learn about Asian culture and participate in fun social events INCLUDING discussions, lessons relating to various Asian cultures and media, karaoke, movie nights (Asian cinema), occasional potlucks, volunteer/donating to Asian businesses, boba or snack socials, Lunar New Year, Diwali, Mid-Autumn Summer Festival.

Purpose: A school yearbook is essentially a “memory book” that highlights the students, teachers and events of the school year. A yearbook also gives students the opportunity to ask their friends and teachers for their autographs and allows them to add comments, “inside jokes” or other personal messages. When all’s said and done, a yearbook allows students to have a physical reminder of the school year. A traditional yearbook should include a few pages for the school administrators, faculty & other staff members, class or student portraits, several pages for clubs, teams or other group photos, a section for special awards & superlatives, event pages usually containing a collage of school events, and graduating class coverage.
