Dear HSI Katy Parents,

Principal Message Video: Video Message

Principal Mercan is sharing this video message that we sent to our Class of 2020 families today. We recognize that there are many uncertainties in front of us and we know our seniors are especially concerned about how they will conclude their time in HSI Katy.

We are committed to keeping our entire HSI Katy families informed every step of the way.

Thank you for your continued support.

I wanted to take just a minute to talk to our seniors, the class of 2020 and their families. As we go through this Coronavirus pandemic, there’s a lot of uncertainties right now. At the same time, I’m hearing from many of you having questions about what the rest of your senior year might look like, and those questions really touch my heart. I know that there are many things such as senior trip,  senior prom, graduation on your mind right now. Because you spent the last thirteen years preparing for this very special time of your life.

There truly is nothing that I, or anyone, can say to make up for the time you are losing in what is supposed to be one of the best years of your life.  Although we do not know what the rest of the year is going to look like, we want to assure you that we are dedicated to giving you the best experience as you finish your time with us here at HSI Katy.

We are currently closed until further notice and we are uncertain when we are going to reopen as a school district. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic that overbears us, forcing us to close schools for an undetermined period of time, we are dedicated to ensuring that our students will graduate from high school ready for a career, college, and life. You ARE ready, and everyone in the Harmony Public School System is going to help you get to the finish line.

Unfortunately due to the uncertainty of the situation, we are faced with events that were planned such as the senior banquet, retreat, and prom are postponed or canceled. If you would like to propose any virtual engaging ideas for the remainder of senior year, please fill out this google form. Ideas can be a weekly virtual check-in with the class, tea party via google hangouts, virtual competitions, anything creative!

Here is the form:

Graduation will be postponed to a date in late July. When the new graduation details are solidified, we will inform you of our new plans.

We understand that there may be families who are struggling financially due to closed businesses and for this reason, we want to offer families the choice to waive the graduation fee of $100. If you would like to waive the fee or if you have already paid the graduation fee and would like a refund, please email Ms.Hamadi, Mr.Mercan, and Mrs.Flores

Additionally, if you have not done so already, please email your baby pictures for the yearbook to and

If you need any help, guidance, advice, or simply just someone to talk to, please reach out to your college advisory or counselors.

Stay home, and stay safe.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation with us.
